File photoPARIS, May 7.French President Emmanuel Macron, who has been re-elected for a second term, will officially take office again on Saturday for five years, his inauguration will take place at the Elysee Palace. The ceremony will last about an hour and a half. During the celebration, the head of the French Constitutional Council, Laurent Fabius, will again proclaim the official results of the elections announced earlier, during which Macron beat the leader of the far-right Rally National Party, Marine Le Pen, for the second time in a row. Then Macron will be declared Grand Master of the Order of the Legion of Honor, which will mark the beginning of his second term. At this moment, he will be awarded the main attribute of this position — a chest chain. True, they will not let you put it on — they will only take it out on a red pillow. The chain consists of 16 links, each of which symbolizes one of the areas, such as trade, industry, literature and others. Each link of this symbol is engraved with the name of one of the presidents of France. There is also the name of Macron. Today, there are only two clean links left in the chain. When they are full, new ones will be added, but this may not be necessary before 2037.The number of French people who trust Macron is barely over 40%, poll showed. However, in the case of Macron as a re-elected leader, there will be no official part of the transfer of power when the former president welcomes the new one, a tradition that has been followed since 1959, when René Coty transferred his powers to Charles de Goll. In this sense, Macron achieved the same as only two other predecessors, François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac, who were also re-elected. According to French media, about 450 people were invited to the ceremony, among them ex-presidents Francois Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy. This is the first time in the history of the Fifth Republic that two former heads of state will be present at the celebration. Also among the guests are prominent politicians, heads of major state institutions, mayors of cities, French Nobel Prize winners and others. Traditionally, the president will make a speech, after which a volley of 21 guns will be fired, and a review of the military will be held. Among the participants of the review will be representatives of the crew of the Monge ship, which is designed to track and calculate the flight path of ballistic and nuclear missiles. As the Local edition notes, such a choice can be symbolically connected with the events in Ukraine. The ceremony will be completed by the performance of the Marseillaise. Usually, after that, the new president goes to the capital's city hall and drives along the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe, but this year the main part of the celebration will take place in the Champs Elysees, there are no plans to leave from there, although Macron fulfilled all the traditions in 2017.
