18:37 «Sanctions against Russia are unacceptable» — a resident of Sofia about the economy in BulgariaThe rise in oil and gas prices has hit the wallets of European residents hard. In Bulgaria, for example, inflation this year is projected at more than 10 percent. Its representatives consider the policy of Prime Minister Kirill Petkov a failure in all areas. According to the party, in recent months the government has been more concerned with the conflict in Ukraine than with the internal problems of the country. The published photographs show that the protesters are standing in front of the monument to the Tsar Liberator (Russian Emperor Alexander II. — Ed.) and holding a banner with the inscription : «Resign the puppet Kiro Petkov for involving Bulgaria on the side of the United States against Russia in Ukraine.» In the parliamentary elections in November 2021, the Renaissance party received 2.97% of the vote, leaving no seats in the People's Assembly. Earlier, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev criticized the country's parliament for the recent decision to send military-technical assistance to Kyiv. He called it a «dangerous step» to involve the country in the conflict and pointed out the possible risks. On February 24, he conducts a special operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. As Vladimir Putin stressed, its goal is «to protect people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to the Ministry of Defense, the Russian military strikes only on military infrastructure and Ukrainian troops, nothing threatens the civilian population. The ministry called the liberation of Donbass the main goal of the operation. Against this background, the United States and its NATO allies continue to pump weapons to Ukraine. The day before, President Joe Biden signed a lend-lease law that makes it easier to provide military assistance to it. Moscow has repeatedly stated that Western arms supplies only prolong the conflict, and the transport of weapons becomes a legitimate target.
