File photoCHISINAU, May 11.Moldova is asking the European Union to provide additional financial support to the country's budget due to the energy and economic crises, President Maia Sandu said on Wednesday. «We continue to ask the EU for additional budgetary support for against the backdrop of rising prices, especially in the context of rising energy prices, so that the government has enough resources to provide assistance to socially vulnerable families,» Sandu said on TVR Moldova. She added that the country is also interested in attracting European investments to strengthen the energy sector of the republic. «We are also discussing with the EU an increase in quotas for products that we cannot sell on the eastern market, we need new sales markets. The technical solution is ready, but a political solution on this issue is also needed,» Sandu said. Earlier, the President of Moldova appealed to European partners with a request to open their markets for Moldovan goods, since exports to the East full-time direction became impossible due to the situation in Ukraine. The country hopes to sign a trade liberalization agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The EFTA Association was formed in 1960 at the initiative of Great Britain. Now it includes Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, Liechtenstein.The annual inflation rate in Moldova reached 27.07% for the first time, Dodon said
