The psychologist also recommended an exercise from the EMDR method of psychotherapy — eye movement desensitization and processing. This method is used to treat post-traumatic stress disorders and operates in a complex of several psychological steps, but one of the exercises — eye movement from side to side — was noted by the psychologist as an effective way to calm down and endure a stressful situation. «According to one of the scientific hypotheses confirming the effectiveness of this method, rapid eye movement has a certain effect on the nervous system.The principle is to help our brain process stressful information that it cannot perceive in the waking state.During deep sleep, our eyes move from side to side, it is in this moment the brain processes all the information it receives. Our task is to repeat the same process, but in the waking state, starting the process of processing information in our nervous system, «said the specialist.
