The Saratov Regional Court overturned the decision to block the Tor browser site in Russia and sent the case back for a new trial, Kommersant reports, citing the press service of the court.
The Tor Project, Inc, which develops the browser, asked the court to review the decision. The court agreed with them, since there were no representatives of the browser at the first meeting.
The Saratov District Court recognized the link to download the anonymous Tor browser in 2017 as “forbidden information”. In December 2021, Roskomnadzor blocked the page of the Tor project, where the browser could be downloaded, for “providing access to illegal content.” At the same time, some ISPs began to block the nodes of the Tor network.
