He added that all cases are mild and also confirmed that the country has purchased additional doses of monkeypox vaccine. Monkeypox is a rare viral infection that is transmitted and between people. It is usually a mild condition and most people recover within a few weeks, but complications can occur for some. The Health Agency noted that monkeypox is not considered a sexually transmitted infection, but can be transmitted through close contact with an infected person, the risk of spread in the UK population is estimated to be very low. Initial symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion. A rash may develop, often starting on the face and then spreading to other parts of the body. The rash changes and goes through various stages before finally forming a scab, which later falls off.
