The Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Ulyanovsk fined an eleventh grader 15,000 rubles for comparing the letters Z and V with the symbols CC. The court ruling is at the disposal of Mediazona.
A student of secondary school No. 10 was found guilty in the case of «discrediting» the Russian army (part 1 of article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses).
Earlier, he wrote under the life73.ru public post on Instagram: “Well, there used to be CC, and now ZV.” At a meeting on May 11, the student pleaded guilty and said he did not know why he had left such a comment.
The court pointed out that the Ministry of Defense explained the meaning of the symbols Z and V on the equipment that participates in the «special operation» in Ukraine. «Z means the words "For the Victory" and "The task will be completed", V stands for "Strength in Truth",» the agency was quoted as saying in the ruling.
Z is down, V is out. A literary critic, historian and culturologist answer Mediazona's questions about the symbols of war
These symbols have become «popular» and «are directly related to the lawful actions of the Armed Forces» in Ukraine, the Zheleznodorozhny Court explained.
At the same time, at the end of April, the Ministry of Defense responded to a request from Moscow City Duma deputy from the Communist Party Yevgeny Stupin that the letters V and Z «are not official military symbols (designations) and do not carry a special load.»
The agency added that these symbols are «recognizable and positively accepted» by Russians and residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics.
