File photoPARIS, May 23Western countries at a meeting of the contact group on the defense of Ukraine agreed to modernize the Ukrainian army in the long term, Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren said on Monday. “At the second online meeting of the contact group on defense Colleague of Ukraine (Minister of Defense of Ukraine – ed.) Oleksiy Reznikov provided an update on the situation in Ukraine… We agreed to intensify our military assistance and modernize the Ukrainian army in the long term,” the minister wrote on Twitter. In a virtual meeting chaired by the Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin was attended by representatives of 44 states, NATO and the European Union, as well as Reznikov and representatives of the Ukrainian special services. During the meeting, Austin called for more military assistance to Ukraine.
