Colombia as one of the main non-NATO allies of the United States,» the memorandum sent by the head of state to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken follows. The document was distributed by the White House. Currently, this status applies to almost 20 countries. Qatar was the last country to be granted the status of a major US ally outside of NATO in March 2022. This status is given to close US allies who share strategic interests with them.
