MELITOPOL, May 28. Famous rock singer Yulia Chicherina took part in replacing the entrance sign to Melitopol — the inscription in Ukrainian and Latin was replaced with «Melitopol — Russia forever,» a RIA Novosti correspondent reports. Together with the military, she attached a new sign to the traffic sign before entering the second most populous city in the Zaporozhye region, which is under the control of the Russian armed forces. In the near future, all entrance groups to Melitopol will be replaced from Ukrainian to Russian-speaking ones, the local administration said. Since February 24, Russia has been conducting a military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» According to the Ministry of Defense, by the end of March, the Russian army had completed the main tasks of the first stage — it significantly reduced the combat potential of Ukraine. The main goal in the department was called the liberation of Donbass.
