Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky demanded that Ukraine be admitted to the European Union as soon as possible under a «new special scheme», but there is simply no such procedure, observers from The American Conservative write. «There is no special procedure for admission to the EU. It is worth noting that Kyiv and so in a few weeks I managed to take those steps to join the community that countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Austria and Sweden spent about three years on,» the authors noted. The media learned about new obstacles for Ukraine on the way to the ERUs, the article emphasizes that the European Union is not a charitable organization, its expansion is not a humanitarian action. Talk about the accelerated accession of Ukraine raises doubts both within the association and in the United States. The authors cited the words of French President Emmanuel Macron, who made it clear that Ukraine may need decades to meet the standards of EU members. In addition, the journalists recalled that Kyiv's «special admission scheme» would require the development of appropriate legislation, and this is difficult due to the lack of unanimity among the 27 current members of the association.
"While the proposal to accelerate Ukraine's accession to the EU due to the escalation of the conflict may be tempting, it is important to adhere to proven and well-established procedures. The EU should not lower its own standards. <…> The role of law is not to serve certain political goals, but to maintain internal order", the authors concluded.
Earlier, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin said that the EU should not make exceptions for Ukraine, moving away from rules for joining the organization. Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte also noted that the chances of Ukraine to soon receive the status of a candidate for EU membership are small. A similar opinion is shared by the minister-delegate to the French Foreign Ministry for European Affairs Clement Bon. According to him, the process of Ukraine's accession to the EU may take 15-20 years.…And the Ukrainianization of all of Europe!
