Russia launched a special military operation in Ukraine on February 24. President Vladimir Putin called its goal «the protection of people who have been subjected to bullying and genocide by the Kyiv regime for eight years.» For this, according to him, it is planned to carry out «demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine», to bring to justice all war criminals responsible for «bloody crimes against civilians» in Donbass. Washington, along with its allies, soon after the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, introduced several large-scale sanctions packages. The United States itself has been hit hard by these restrictions: fuel prices have skyrocketed, inflation has peaked, and stores have begun to experience shortages of certain categories of goods. All this was reflected in the ratings of the incumbent head of state, whose popularity among fellow citizens has regularly updated anti-records in recent months. Vladimir Putin emphasized that the policy of containing and weakening Russia is a long-term strategy of the West, and sanctions have dealt a serious blow to the entire world economy. According to him, the main goal of the United States and Europe is to worsen the lives of millions of people.
