"Something does not look like sanctions and embargos are really hindering them now. Until now, they have been helped mainly by the EU, which has threatened to impose an embargo, thereby raising world prices for oil and gas, but has not introduced it. Therefore, Russia sold a lot and expensive. This will continue until the end of the year", Kovanda predicts.
The expert stressed that Russian energy companies also benefited from disagreements in the European Union. At the same time, as he noted, the announcement of the phasing out of the import of Russian oil by the EU countries led to the strengthening of the ruble. The EU called the real consequences of the embargo on oil from Russia «The first reaction of the market suggests that nothing will fundamentally change for Russia and Russian companies,» the economist believes. The day before, the European Union published the sixth package of sanctions against Moscow in the official journal. It provides for, among other things, the gradual introduction of an embargo on the import of black gold from Russia. The ban will only affect supplies by sea, and the oil coming through the Druzhba pipeline is not subject to restrictions. By the end of the year, the EU expects to abandon almost 90 percent of the purchases of this resource from the Eurasian country. ;
