Excessive involvement of the United States in the situation in Ukraine threatens to escalate into a direct military clash with Russia through the fault of the States — this is the worst scenario for them, political scientist Anatol Lieven said in a column for Atlantic. «The worst scenario would be to turn the conflict in Ukraine into the beginning of another global crusade» So, Lieven recalled the beginning of the geopolitical confrontation between the States and the Soviet Union in the middle of the 20th century, when, due to an excessive desire to resist Moscow, Washington was embroiled in several conflicts.
