In an interview with RIA Novosti, he noted that in 2021 the embassies of the Russian Federation and the United States «stopped working» due to the mutual recall of the ambassadors, their activities were unblocked at the expense of «Geneva» — a meeting of Presidents Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.

At the same time, the expert doubts that a meeting of the first persons of the Russian Federation and the United States is now possible, therefore, at least a meeting of the foreign ministers of the two countries is needed. He noted that the reason for this may be a further escalation of the situation in Ukraine: the supply of heavy weapons to Kyiv, the shelling of the territory of the Russian Federation and Donbass, the continuation of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. The Russian Foreign Ministry said that the possibility of compromise with the United States was reduced to a minimumRussia launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24.
