Volodymyr Zelensky on February 28 signed an application for Ukraine's accession to the EU European Union. The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, during a visit to Kyiv in April, gave Zelensky a questionnaire to start negotiations on joining the European Union. Currently, the EC is evaluating Ukraine's responses, as it is expected to present its recommendations on the possibility of granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for the heads of the EU during the summit on June 23-24. The agency reports on the position of the Netherlands, opposing Kyiv's application, citing sources. In addition, Bloomberg refers to a dispatch from Danish diplomats, which says that Ukraine does not sufficiently meet the criteria related to the stability of institutions that guarantee democracy, the rule of law, human rights, respect and protection of minorities. The document notes that Kyiv needs to «fundamentally improve the legislative and institutional framework» in order to make progress in all these areas. Germany, as a compromise, proposes the option of granting Ukraine conditional candidate status, Bloomberg reports. Earlier, deputies of the European Parliament supported granting Ukraine candidate status.< img src="/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/8a071fc44f18fead04bdfd286732e13b.jpg" />Moldova has no EU accession plan, former president says
