Israeli PM: Iran 'dangerously close' to nuclear weapons

"Iran is enriching uranium at an unprecedented rate and perilously close to acquiring a nuclear weapon… Without pressure from the West, the Islamic regime in Iran could very soon get its hands on a nuclear bomb. The world must take a stand and tell the Islamic regime: no nuclear weapons, no sanctions. The Iranian nuclear program will not stop until it is stopped,” the Israeli prime minister told the British newspaper Telegraph.

Earlier it was reported that Tehran has accelerated the production and installation of a new generation of centrifuges for uranium enrichment, and also informed the IAEA of its intention to dismantle 27 its cameras from facilities in the country. In 2015, the United Kingdom, Germany, China, Russia, the United States, France and Iran signed a nuclear deal — the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), which involved the lifting of sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran's nuclear program. In May 2018, then-U.S. President Donald Trump withdrew from the JCPOA and reinstated sanctions against Tehran. In response, Iran announced a phased reduction in its obligations under the agreement, waiving restrictions on nuclear research, centrifuges and the level of uranium enrichment.
