Veteran Ignat Artemenko died in Moscow at the age of 95. This is reported by Izvestia and Telegram channel 112, citing sources. This information was confirmed to Rise by Artemenko’s grandson Igor Kolesnikov.
In June 2020, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal libel case (Part 2 of Article 12.1 of the Criminal Code) against Alexei Navalny due to the fact that the politician, without mentioning names , criticized on Twitter the RT propaganda video on amendments to the Constitution, in which Artemenko took part. Navalny himself claimed that the veteran's grandson had written a statement against him.
The politician wrote that «darlings», «toadies», «shame on the country» and «traitors» starred in the video. The UK considered that these words discredit the honor and dignity of the veteran. In this case, the oppositionist was fined 850 thousand rubles.

In 2021, Navalny had his suspended sentence replaced with a real one in the Yves Rocher case and sent to IK-2 in Pokrov. Then the Lefortovsky District Court of Moscow, at an off-site meeting, sentenced him to 9 years in a strict regime colony in the case of fraud in collecting donations, as well as contempt of court when considering a case of libel against veteran Ignat Artemenko.
The prosecution insisted that the politician insulted Judge Vera Akimova by calling her Obersturmbannführer.
In June of this year, Alexei Navalny was transferred to the Vladimir IK-6 of the strict regime «Melekhevo».
