File photoMINSK, June 20Russia and Belarus are at the beginning of the path of building the Union State, it is necessary to work more substantively on the harmonization of legislation, the preparation of model laws, said Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, speaker of the State Duma. «We can see what the concept of a unipolar world has led to. When it comes to the development of states, it is important that each country has the right to self-realization, building relationships. And here a good example is the construction of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. But we are still at the beginning of the road,» the politician said during his speech at the meeting of the Assembly .
The Secretary of State of the Union State assessed the degree of its implementation. Volodin, using the example of the European Union, noted that the Europeans have achieved great success on the path of integration. As the parliamentarian emphasized, it is necessary to achieve concrete results in the work, to consider in detail the issues of harmonization of legislation. «But as for us, legislators, colleagues, we need to deal more specifically with the issues of harmonization of legislation, preparation of model laws. And most importantly, use the opportunities that we granted by laws, interstate agreements,» he added. On Monday, Volodin is paying a working visit to Belarus. In Minsk, Volodin holds a meeting of the 62nd session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia. Deputies of the State Duma and senators of the Federation Council also take part in the visit. The agenda of the meeting includes current areas of work to counter external challenges and threats, sanctions pressure, propaganda of Nazism, and ensuring the protection of historical memory. During the session, it is planned to approve the newly formed commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly, elect their chairmen and assign to the commissions the functions of legislative support for the implementation of the Union programs.
