MOSCOW, June 22 Russian goalkeeper of the National Hockey League (NHL) club » New York Rangers» Igor Shesterkin became the owner of the «Vezina Trophy». The prize is awarded to the best goalkeeper at the end of the regular season in the NHL. The winner is determined by the vote of the general managers of the league clubs. In the last regular season, Shesterkin played 53 matches and scored six shutouts. The Russian goalkeeper is the leader of the NHL season in terms of reliability coefficient (2.07) and the percentage of saved shots (93.5%). Shesterkin became the third Russian goalkeeper in the history of the NHL, who managed to win Vezina. Previously, the prize went to Sergey Bobrovsky (2013 and 2017) and Andrey Vasilevsky (2019). In addition to Shesterkin, the Finnish goalkeeper of the Nashville Predators Juuse Saros and the Swede Jacob Markstrem from the Calgary Flames claimed the trophy. According to the voting results, Shesterkin scored 154 points. Markstrom finished second with 53 points and Saros rounded out the top three with 32 points.
