The choice of voting created a problem For the right to become the head of the Russian Biathlon Union, the incumbent president Viktor Maigurov and vice president Alexei Nuzhdov fought. Two weeks before the election, a complaint was filed against Maigurov to the Prosecutor General's Office on behalf of members of the Council of the RRF. In theory, this could seriously change the balance of power, but the story did not receive any serious continuation. At least for now. After Maigurov's opening speech and the Russian anthem, the press was asked to leave the conference hall. Nevertheless, the information still reached the journalists. It all started with the fact that the delegates made a choice in favor of open voting. And this has become a stumbling block for candidates. Nuzhdov admitted that he really wanted everything to be held in a closed format. In his opinion, it would be more honest. Maygurov, on the contrary, was in every possible way for an open vote. «It's great that there was an open vote, we must openly look into each other's eyes. We are not focused on personal ambitions, but on the overall development of biathlon. We wanted not to go to the second and third rounds. We have certain agreements with Nuzhdov,» Maygurov told reporters. Nuzhdov hinted that during an open vote, some delegates who were originally in favor of him later voted against. And then they wrote messages to Alexei Viktorovich with apologies that they could not cast their vote for him openly. It was getting hot.
