MOSCOW, June 23, Alexander Sergeev. President of the Russian Football Union (RFU) Alexander Dyukov urged to treat the statements of the Moscow “Spartak” about a possible boycott of the match for the Russian Super Cup against St. Petersburg “Zenith” as a warm-up before the game. The match for the Russian Super Cup will be held on July 9 in St. Petersburg. This decision was made at a meeting of the Bureau of the Executive Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) on June 10. After that, information appeared in the media that the “red-whites” could boycott the match, since the capital club was initially against holding the game in St. Petersburg. On June 14, Spartak announced on the official website that they would play in the match for the Super Bowl. «I do not know anything about Spartak's intentions to boycott the match for the Super Bowl. I have not received any official documents regarding the boycott. Let's treat this as a warm-up. «This intrigue can bring additional interest. At a briefing after the bureau of the executive committee, I said that I do not believe in this boycott. We expect attendance to be significantly higher than in Nizhny Novgorod or Kazan. At the same time, there should be a lot of Spartak fans,» Dyukov said at a press conference.
