MOSCOW, 23 Jun. Russian chess player Jan Nepomniachtchi defeated Pole Jan-Krzysztof Dudu in the sixth round of the Candidates Tournament, which takes place in Madrid. The game, in which Nepomniachtchi played with white pieces, ended on the 35th move. In another game, Fabiano Caruana from the USA outplayed the representative of France, Alireza Firouzja, with Black. The games Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan) — Richard Rapport (Hungary) and Hikaru Nakamura (USA) — Ding Liren (China) ended in a draw. After six rounds, the Russian has 4.5 points. Behind him is Caruana (4), followed by Nakamura, Rapport (3 each), Ding Liren, Radjabov, Duda (2.5 each) and Firouzja (2). The Candidates Tournament will last until July 5th. Its winner will play a match for the world title with the reigning title holder Norwegian Magnus Carlsen.
