"Despite the fact that several members of the committee expressed differing views, the committee decided by consensus to inform the Director-General of WHO that at this stage it should be determined that the outbreak is not a PHEIC (Emergency of International Concern)", the statement said after the meeting.
According to the latest WHO data, since the beginning of the year, more than 3.2 thousand cases of monkeypox infections among humans have been detected in 48 countries of the world. This is a rare viral infection that is also transmitted between people. It is usually mild and most people recover within a few weeks, but some may experience complications. The British Health Agency noted that monkeypox is not considered a sexually transmitted infection, but can be transmitted through close contact with an infected person. Initial symptoms of monkeypox include fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen lymph nodes, chills and exhaustion. A rash may develop, often starting on the face and then spreading to other parts of the body. It changes and goes through various stages before finally forming a scab, which later falls off. and DistributionInfographicView
