MOSCOW, July 6 The Match TV channel published an open a letter to the Russian Football Union (RFU) and the Russian Premier League (RPL), calling into question further partnership due to the possible organization of a new tournament in domestic football. Earlier media reported that 13 out of 16 clubs in the Russian championship voted to host the League Cup . Later, the president of «Orenburg» Vasily Eremyakin denied this information in a conversation with a correspondent. «Match TV» is a long-term partner of Russian football. In recent months, the media have been discussing the creation of a new tournament — the so-called «RPL Cup». Match TV believes that its creation among RPL clubs will have a negative impact on the media attractiveness of the championship and the Russian Football Cup, which will entail corresponding consequences for all parties involved. In fact, the launch of an alternative product does not comply with the principles of partnership. Considering the foregoing, Match TV reserves the right to take legal measures regarding the revision or termination of the license agreement with the Russian Premier League,» the statement said. In the history of Russian football, the fourth trophy (after the championship, Cup and Super Cup of Russia — approx. ed.) was played only once.The Premier League Cup was held in 2003. Zenit St. Petersburg became its winner.
