File photoMOSCOW, July 8Russian sappers have defused a total of more than 52,000 explosive ordnances in the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, the head of the Interdepartmental Coordination Headquarters of the Russian Federation for Humanitarian Response, the head of the National Defense Control Center of the Russian Federation, said on Friday Colonel-General Mikhail Mizintsev.
"Demining units of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Russian Emergencies Ministry carry out tasks to clear the territory of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics from explosive objects. In total, 3,824.11 hectares of territory have been checked,» Mizintsev said.
He specified that 35 buildings were also checked, including 13 socially significant objects, two bridges and about 10 kilometers of roads. More than 52,000 explosive objects have been detected and defused.
