One of the witnesses for the prosecution in the case of municipal deputy Alexei Gorinov was Phillip Lasota, Master of Financial Engineering at the National Research University Higher School of Economics, who graduated from the university a year ago. According to the document, in March, Lasota saw a post that the head of the Krasnoselsky municipal district, Elena Kotenochkina, called Russia a “fascist state” and “banned” the holding of a children’s drawing contest dedicated to Victory Day. “After watching this video, he (Lyasota — MZ) independently applied via the Internet to the reception of the Main Investigative Committee of the Russian Investigative Committee for Moscow and the Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Administrative District of Moscow, since this video offended him, hurt him, he felt injustice, he had two great-grandfathers who fought against fascism, and therefore he believes that it is wrong to name the country that fought and is fighting against fascism, ”the text of the verdict says.
Also, the head of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Alexander Khinshtein and the deputy chairman of the committee for the development of civil society Oleg Leonov, who was the coordinator of the volunteer search and rescue team LizaAlert, also addressed the prosecutor's office with complaints about Gorinov, Kommersant specified.
On July 8, the Meshchansky District Court of Moscow sentenced Gorinov to seven years in a penal colony. The reason for the case about the «fakes» about the army (paragraphs «a», «b» and «e» of part 2 of article 207.3 of the Criminal Code) was a five-minute conversation about the competition of children's drawings on March 15.
