MOSCOW, Jul 15 Ukrainian Shakhtar will play home matches of the group stage Champions League season 2022/23 in Warsaw, according to the website of the football club. Shakhtar signed an agreement with Legia Warsaw on the lease of the stadium. The Ukrainian club will host opponents at the stadium of the Polish Army. Shakhtar, to our great regret, cannot yet play home matches of European competitions in Ukraine, so it was decided to play the matches of the Champions League group stage in Warsaw. I want to thank the leadership of Legia for the fact that the club went to meet us and provided its stadium. We really hope for the support of Shakhtar and Legia fans, Poles and Ukrainians who now live in Warsaw and other cities. We believe that the excellent conditions provided by Legia and the incredible atmosphere that the fans will create at the stadium will help Shakhtar to perform successfully in this Champions League season,» Shakhtar CEO Serhiy Palkin said.
