MOSCOW, Jul 21 Midfielder Wendel extended his contract with Zenit St. Petersburg, according to the official website of the Blue-White-Blues. Under the terms of the new agreement, the 24-year-old Brazilian will play for the St. Petersburg club until the end of the 2026/27 season. Wendel's previous contract was valid until 2025. Earlier, information appeared in the Brazilian media that Wendel could suspend the contract with Zenit and move to the Brazilian Flamengo. Wendel has been playing for Zenit since 2020 and during this time he became a two-time champion of Russia. In the 2021/22 season, the midfielder made 25 appearances and scored three goals in the Russian Premier League.
