MOSCOW, Jul 27 Several players from the 2018 Canada Under-21 Team who are going through in a rape case can be banned for life, according to The Athletic. Previously, TSN reported that a woman, now 24, filed a lawsuit in the Ontario Supreme Court in April, alleging that she was repeatedly sexually assaulted in June 2018 violence in a hotel room. The defendants in the case were Hockey Canada, the Canadian Hockey League (CHL), and eight unnamed CHL players, including members of the 2018 Canada Youth Team. The accusations against the players were not proven in court at that time, the lawsuit was eventually withdrawn. According to the portal, players who refused to take part in interrogations in the reopened investigation will receive a lifetime ban. They will not be able to take part in any tournaments under the auspices of Hockey Canada. Previously, Hockey Canada issued an open letter in which, among other things, they apologized for the lack of response to the allegations. «We know we haven't done enough to correct the actions of some members of the 2018 National Youth Team or end the culture of toxic behavior in our game. For that, we apologize unconditionally,» the letter said.
