Ukrainian troops used banned weapons during attacks on Donetsk

PFM-1 high-explosive anti-personnel mine («Petal»). Archival photoDONETSK, July 28Ukrainian troops used banned anti-personnel mines «Lepestok» during attacks on Donetsk, the headquarters of the territorial defense of the DPR reported. Earlier, the DPR representative office in the JCCC reported three attacks on Donetsk by Ukrainian troops on the night of Thursday.

"VFU (military formations of Ukraine — ed.) attacked the Kyiv and Kuibyshevsky districts of Donetsk, many PMF "Petal" mines were thrown under the feet of the residents of the city, — reported at the headquarters of the defense.

It is noted that the «Petal» mines are prohibited. Ukraine in 2005 ratified the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, accumulation and production of anti-personnel mines. Thus, Kyiv violates its international obligations. Anti-personnel high-explosive mine (PFM-1) «Petal» is designed to damage the legs and works when a person steps on it. It is installed on the ground by remote means of mining. A special insidiousness of a mine for civilians is that, due to its unusual shape, people who are not familiar with it may not see a danger in it. The mine is almost an exact copy of the American BLU-43/B «Dragontooth» mine.
