Archive photoMOSCOW, August 11The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to the appeal of the Latvian authorities to stop issuing visas to Russians: such actions were called in the department another manifestation of Russophobia and stressed that they contradict international law.
" We are considering the statement of the Latvian Seimas calling for stopping the issuance of tourist visas to Russians as another manifestation of Russophobia, which has long become a "tuning fork" of Latvian foreign policy", the statement on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.
It emphasizes that such steps by the supreme legislative body of Latvia violate international law and the principle of sovereign equality of states, enshrined in the UN Charter.
