File photoWASHINGTON, Aug 12 The US has imposed sanctions on Paraguayan Vice President Hugo Velázquez for alleged involvement in corruption, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said. «Juan Carlos Duarte for involvement in significant corruption, including bribing officials and interfering with public processes,» Blinken said in a widespread statement. According to him, a close associate of Velasquez Duarte offered a bribe to an official, allegedly intending to obstruct an investigation that threatened the vice president and his Financial interests. The closest relatives of Velázquez and members of the Duarte family are also subject to sanctions, Blinken said.
