Honored coach of the USSR Tatyana Tarasova said, that she is pleased to hear the opinion of lawyer Richard McLaren that Russian athletes were unfairly suspended from international competition. Earlier, McLaren, who investigated anti-doping rule violations in Russian sports, said that he considered the current suspension of Russian athletes by international federations from competitions unfair, but, in his opinion, until the situation in Ukraine is resolved, the world sports community will not change its decision. «It is very pleasant that a person who is directly related to doping has such an opinion. Perhaps they began to understand that competitions without Russian athletes are not the same. But I don’t know how his comrades will react to this statement,” Tarasova said. In February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) against the backdrop of events in Ukraine recommended that international federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete. A number of international federations accepted this recommendation and excluded Russians and Belarusians from competitions under their auspices. Other federations allowed athletes from the two countries to compete in neutral status.
