UN Secretary-General António Guterres called for an urgent agreement on the restoration of the civil status of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and ensuring the security of this zone. «The facility should not be used as part of any military operation,» Guterres said at a press conference with Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Vladimir Zelensky. Instead, according to him, «an agreement is urgently needed to restore the ZNPP as a purely civilian infrastructure and ensure the security of this area.» He expressed concern about the development of the situation at the ZNPP and around «Common sense must prevail to avoid any action that could endanger the physical integrity, safety or security of the nuclear power plant,» he said. Causing any potential damage to Zaporozhye is suicidal, the secretary general added.
