MOSCOW, Aug 18 Formula 1 Executive Director Stefano Domenicali said that the leadership of the championship promises not to negotiate the holding of Formula 1 races in Russia. In March, Formula 1 prematurely terminated the contract for the Russian Grand Prix, and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) announced the cancellation of the Russian stage in the upcoming season against the backdrop of the situation in Ukraine.
"Money is important to us, but it is not the only thing we pay attention to. If only the bank account was looked at, the race calendar would look different. I always say never say never. But in this case, I can promise — we will no longer conduct any negotiations with the organizers of the Russian Grand Prix. There will be no more races", Domenicali quotes Sky Sport with reference to Bild Sport.
The contract for the Russian Grand Prix was calculated until 2025. In 2022, Sochi was supposed to host the stage for the last time, after which the competition was to be held in St. Petersburg at the Igora Drive circuit.
