Nord Stream. File photoMOSCOW, Aug 20Ukraine's Gas Transmission System Operator (GTS) claims it can compensate for interruptions in Nord Stream operation. Earlier, Gazprom announced that gas transport via Nord Stream would be suspended for three days, from August 31 to September 2, in connection with the scheduled maintenance of the only working gas compressor unit (GCU) at the Portovaya compressor station (CS). «Taking into account the regular interruptions in the operation of Nord Stream in recent months, it is equally as well as the announced stoppage of this route at the end of August, we remind you of the existence of alternative corridors through Ukraine and Poland,” the Ukrainian GTS operator said in a statement. Nord Stream, the main route for gas supplies from Russia to Europe, has been operating since mid-June restrictions, and since the end of July — only 20% of almost 170 million cubic meters of throughput capacity per day. The Russian side has repeatedly emphasized that the limitation of deliveries is due solely to sanctions, which caused problems with the maintenance and repair of Siemens gas pumping units. Now only one turbine ensures the operation of the highway. The supply of a turbine for Nord Stream to Germany after repairs in Canada does not comply with the terms of the contract, Russia needs confirmation that this and other turbines that require maintenance will not be subject to sanctions from Canada, Great Britain and the European Union, the Russian embassy in Berlin said earlier.
