MOSCOW, 20 Aug. The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) does not plan to allow the national teams of Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions in 2023, said the president of the organization, Luc Tardif, quoted by journalist Chris Peters on his Twitter. In February, the IIHF council suspended the national teams of Russia and Belarus from international competition for an indefinite period. The teams have already missed the 2022 World Cup in Finland. Later, the independent disciplinary board of the IIHF rejected the appeal of the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR) to remove the Russian national teams from participation in international competitions. «Russia and Belarus are still not allowed to compete next season. Decisions on them will be updated from season to season,» — said Tardif. In addition, the president of the IIHF noted that the organization left the issue of sanctions against hockey players for playing in the championships of Russia and Belarus at the discretion of the national federations.
