MOSCOW, Aug 25 Former world number one American Serena Williams will face representative of Montenegro Danka Kovinic in the first round of the US Open tennis championship in 2022. The organizers provided Williams, who previously won the US Open finals six times, with a special invitation (wild card). In total, Williams won 23 Grand Slam tournaments. Kovinic is ranked 80th in the Women's Tennis Association. The US Open, the last of the four Grand Slam tournaments, will be held from August 29 to September 11. Earlier, Williams announced her imminent retirement.
