UFA, September 5 Leninsky District Court of Ufa on Monday, September 5, will pass sentence on ex-hockey player of the club «Salavat Yulaev» Anvar Suleymanov, accused of bribing a member of the military registration and enlistment office in order to evade military service. The state prosecutor asked the court to punish Suleymanov with a fine of 3 million rubles to the state. The defense of the hockey player asked the court, when sentencing, to take into account his full confession of guilt and to impose a punishment not related to imprisonment. Suleimanov himself refused to participate in the debate and said that he would deliver the last word on September 5. According to the SUSK of the Russian Federation for Bashkiria, in 2019, two students from a Ufa university, through an acquaintance, gave a bribe to an employee of the military commissariat to release or receive a deferment from serving in the ranks of the Armed Forces RF. The amounts of bribes amounted to 170 thousand and 175 thousand rubles. Then the intermediary was arrested, and a criminal case was opened against the bribe givers. On July 8, the criminal case was submitted to the court for consideration, and then it turned out that not two, but three hockey players appeared in the case: Anvar Suleymanov, Vladislav Lukin and Mikhail Vorobyov. There is no official data on exactly how the investigation came to the third athlete. Vorobyov, who admitted his guilt at one of the previous court hearings, declared his readiness to serve in the army. The court will start considering the case against Lukin on September 22.
