MOSCOW, Sep 17 The current head of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Swede Olle Dalin was re-elected for a new term in the organization's presidential elections, according to the IBU Twitter. The elections took place at the IBU congress in Salzburg. Dalin is 68 years old and has led the union since 2018. Prior to that, the Swede served as vice-president of the organization. The Czech Jiri Gamza was re-elected vice-president of the IBU during the congress. Like Dalin, he was the only candidate in the election and was re-elected unanimously. The IBU Congress had previously decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice. The proposal of the executive committee to suspend the activities of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation (BFB) was also accepted until they demonstrate their full support for the goals and principles of the organization.
