MOSCOW, Sep 16 The 2027 Biathlon World Championships will be held in the Estonian city Otepää, according to the website of the International Biathlon Union (IBU). The decision was made at a meeting of the organization's congress in Salzburg after the recommendation of the IBU executive committee. The second candidate for the venue of the World Cup was Finnish Kontiolahti. The congress also approved the updated budget for the 2022/23 season and the budget framework for the 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons. The next World Cup will be held in Oberhof, Germany (from 6 until February 19, 2023), then the Czech Nove Mesto (February 5-18, 2024) and the Swiss Lenzerheide (February 10-23, 2025) will host tournaments. Earlier, the IBU Congress decided to uphold the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes from international competitions until further notice. The proposal of the executive committee to suspend the activities of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation (BFB) was also accepted until they demonstrate their full support for the goals and principles of the organization.
