Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine warned about criminal liability for participation in «referendums» during the war

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk warned citizens of the country about criminal liability for participation in «referendums» on joining Russia, planned in the LPR, DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Her words are quoted by “Politics of the Country”.

“According to the law on the legal regime of wartime, referendums on the territory of Ukraine are prohibited. The organizers and participants in the referenda will be punished under Article 111-1, part 5 of the Criminal Code — this is imprisonment from 5 to 10 years, ”Vereshchuk specified.

Also, with reference to lawyers, she suggested that participation in the vote could face up to five years in prison under the article on encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (Part 1 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code).

Vereshchuk added: “I strongly advise residents of the temporarily occupied territories: do not take a [Russian] passport, do not go to referendums, do not cooperate with the occupiers, leave if possible.”

Yesterday, the authorities of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions announced the holding of «referendums» from September 23 to September 27 on joining the regions to Russia.
