MOSCOW, Sep 25 Two-time Olympic champion Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge sets a new world record at the Berlin Marathon. The previous achievement was also set by Kipchoge at the Berlin Marathon (2018). Then he ran a distance of 42 kilometers 195 meters in 2 hours 1 minute 39 seconds. This time he overcame it in 2 hours 1 minute 9 seconds. In October 2019, Kipchoge ran the Vienna marathon in 1 hour 59 minutes 40 seconds, becoming the first athlete in history to manage to show the result in less than two hours. However, this record was not registered, because the race was not held under the auspices of the International Athletics Association. Kipchoge is 37 years old. He is the champion of the Games in Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo in the marathon. Also on his account is the silver of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the bronze of the 2004 Games in Athens in the 5000 meters. In 2003, the Kenyan became the world champion in the 5000m.
