Pavel, a 40-year-old resident of the village of Novoye in the Makarovsky district of Sakhalin, was given a summons despite diabetes and a spinal injury. His sister Alena told the Sakh.Com agency about this.
According to Sakhalin, Pavel served in the army, but in 2016 during an accident he suffered a spinal injury, after which metal plates were installed instead of his vertebrae. In 2020, a resident of Sakhalin was hospitalized with an exacerbation — he could not walk and bend over, Alena added.

The man was also diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. “He constantly checks his sugar, injects insulin. If not pricked, begins to lose consciousness. What kind of hostilities are there, he won’t even be able to get there,” his sister said. Sakh.Com writes that the editorial office has documents confirming the diagnoses.
“He was taken away last week, on Wednesday or Thursday. Give him time to collect himself. He came home, took the epicrisis, all the documents. They brought me to Aniva to the military unit. He showed the documents, said that he was insulin dependent, ”explained Alena.
After that, Pavel was taken to a hospital in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, where the therapist and the head physician told him that he was fit. As a result, Alena filed an application with the military prosecutor's office and the commission under the regional government to consider applications for mobilization. The dispatcher of the hotline of the latter confirmed to the agency that Sakhalin's appeal had been received and «is in progress.»
