MOSCOW, Oct 1, Svetlana Bonopartova. Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova said she did not understand Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova's decision to leave coach Eteri Tutberidze. On Saturday, a source said Beijing 2022 Olympic silver medalist Trusova had moved from coach Tutberidze to Svetlana Sokolovskaya. The reasons for the transfer of the 18-year-old athlete are unknown. At the end of September, she performed at the test skates of the Russian national team, representing the Tutberidze group. The figure skater Mark Kondratyuk, who is in close relations with Trusova, is training in Sokolovskaya’s group. “I don’t understand this decision. She went to where (Mark) Kondratyuk is. After Tutberidze, Sokolovskaya will not help her,” said Tarasova. Trusova trained with Tutberidze entire junior and a significant part of the adult career. In the 2020/21 season, she studied at the academy of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, after which she decided to return to Tutberidze. Trusova's assets, in addition to the silver of the Olympics, are also two golds of the junior world championships and bronze of the adult world and European championships. Trusova is the first figure skater in history to land five quadruple jumps in one program.
