The Russian women's boxing team will not perform at the European Championship, despite the admission

MOSCOW, Oct 5, Oleg Bogatov. General Secretary of the Russian Boxing Federation Tatyana Kiriyenko reported that the women's national team will not be able to take part in the European Championship due to the tight deadlines for solving visa problems, as well as the planned national championship in Krasnodar. The International Boxing Association (IBA) on Wednesday announced the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to participate in international competitions. The Board of Directors of the IBA voted to reverse the previous decision, according to which Russians and Belarusians were suspended from competitions under the auspices of the organization. Also technical representatives from Russia and Belarus will be admitted to the tournaments. The European Women's Championship will be held on October 14-22 in Budva (Montenegro), and the Russian Championship on the same dates in Krasnodar. “We are very pleased with the IBA decision today to return our athletes to the international arena. And we have already discussed this situation in the federation during the men Russian Championship, which is currently taking place in Chita. To our great regret, for a number of reasons, we still do not have time to prepare all the necessary documents for participation in the European Women's Championship in such a short time, “Kirienko said. “This is due, in particular, with the execution of a number of necessary visa documents. And one more important point: at the same time, we originally planned to hold the Russian Women's Championship in Krasnodar. And we cannot cancel such a large and significant tournament for us, preparations for which have been going on for quite a long time time,” the agency's interlocutor added.
