The UN drew attention to the words of Danilov about the Russian language in Ukraine

United Nations logo. File photoUN, Oct 21 UN Secretary General's spokesman Stéphane Dujarric pointed to useless rhetoric after Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, spoke about the Russian language.

" Since the beginning of this conflict, we have seen a lot of rhetoric, which, to put it mildly, is not helpful", said Dujarric.

The representative of the UN Secretary General also stressed that words, as well as actions, matter. Danilov said earlier, that the Russian language should completely disappear from the territory of Ukraine. According to him, the narrative about the need to reach an understanding with Russian-speaking Ukrainians is a danger to the state. He said that «let them get away from us, let them go to their swamps and croak in their Russian language.» In recent years, the use of the Russian language has been massively banned in Ukraine. The authorities enshrine it at the legislative level. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the Kyiv authorities have been pursuing a policy of aggressive de-Russification and forced assimilation for many years. He noted that Moscow wants to see Ukraine as friendly, without a ban on the Russian language and Russian culture. In turn, President Vladimir Putin later said that the question of abolishing the Ukrainian language in Russia was illegal in itself.A new stage of dismantling Ukraine has begun
