MOSCOW, 23 Oct Chairman of the Athletes Commission of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation ( FIS) Finn Martti Yylhä called the situation with the removal of Russians from tournaments sad from the point of view of competition. Earlier, the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, called for continuing to comply with recommendations regarding sanctions against athletes from Russia and Belarus. «As chairman of the commission, I voted with the approval of the athletes to extend the restrictions on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes. Our position has not changed since February. In terms of competition, the situation is naturally sad. But sport should not be separated from the rest of society,» Yulha wrote on Twitter. At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that sports federations not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in competitions situation in Ukraine. Most IFs have followed this recommendation.
