MOSCOW, 27 Oct. The Russian men's and women's volleyball teams are not allowed to participate in the Olympic qualification tournament of the 2024 Games in Paris, according to the official website of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Lists of 24 teams that can play in the Olympic qualification have been formed based on the ranking of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) teams. Russian teams were not included in the number of participants due to suspension from international competitions. The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024. In the Olympic volleyball tournament, 12 women's and men's teams must perform. French teams will compete as hosts, the fight will go for the remaining 11 spots. The teams that will participate in the Olympic qualification will be divided into three groups, each of which will host its own qualifying tournament. The top two teams from each tournament will qualify for the Olympics. Qualifying competitions should take place in September and October 2023. The five remaining Olympic quotas will be distributed using the FIVB rating in June 2024 using a geographical principle — first of all, they will be received by teams from continents that do not yet have teams that have qualified for participation in Olympic tournament.
